Magic Johnson Steps Down From Lakers

The news broke on Tuesday, as Magic Johnson is officially stepping down as the Los Angeles Lakers President of Operations. With just over a year on the job, it’s shocking to see Johnson step down after acquiring a superstar talent in LeBron James last summer.
Magic Johnson steps down as Lakers president. He hasn’t said it outright but is hinting strongly that he planned to fire Luke Walton and that won’t happen now. He is getting emotional and hasn’t told Jeanie yet he says.

Through the year, Johnson was forced to deal with tampering accusations, as well as constant heat from the media. With no clear candidate in mind for the vacant position, the Lakers will head into the offseason with a variety of question marks attached to their organization.
