After the end of the 2019-20 season, rumors surfaced that the Los Angeles Rams could move on from running back Todd Gurley this offseason. On Thursday, the team pulled the trigger, releasing Gurley from his contract. He had four years remaining on his contract, and was owed $10.5M prior to the 4pm EST deadline.

As of late, Gurley has taken the league by storm. He has rushed for becoming one of the most elusive running backs in the NFL running for over 1,000 yards in three of his first five seasons, and has totaled 58 rushing touchdowns.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were rumored as a trade suitor for the running back prior to his release. With Ronald Jones as the projected start, the Buccaneers are still expected to be interested.
