According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers have decided to fire head coach Byron Scott on Sunday evening. General Manager Mitch Kupchak came out out with a statement, thanking Scott for his service.

The Lakers are reportedly putting a long list of candidates together for their next head coach, along with names such as Van Gundy and Walton. If only they made this move earlier, as names such as Tom Thibodeau and Scott Brooks recently got claimed by other franchises.

Who would I like to see represent the Lakers? How about Kevin Ollie? During his time at UConn, his coaching record is 97-44, an outstanding feat for college sports. Ollie also has a deep relationship with Kevin Durant, hinting him as a recruitment opportunity this summer.

One name I wouldn’t like to see? Phil Jackson. He obviously will go down as debatably the best coach in NBA history, yet his strategy recently is not working. If I was running the Lakers, I would stay far away from someone who is looking to keep the triangle as a way to run a system.
