In a wild night for both former UFC fighters Artem Lobov and Jason Knight, a night full of moments at Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship 5 ended with a blood bath that not only ended with Lobov winning by unanimous decision, but quite possibly a fight of the year candidate similar to Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonnar at the first-ever Ultimate Fighter finale.
Lobov and Knight both signed contracts to fight at BKFC 5. It wasn’t seen as a huge fight, but quickly turned into a brawl that not only had fans buzzing about it, but the internet can’t stop talking about the heart, determination and guts that Knight and Lobov have to show for the sport of Bare-Knuckle Fighting.
Both men were covered in blood and it could have gone either way when Knight dropped Lobov, but Lobov fired back with some clean shots for all 5-rounds. The decision was made clear towards the end of the fight and Lobov earned himself the win over Knight.
Many outlets saw this as the build-up to the potential Lobov vs former WBA Welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi who not only slapped Lobov a few days back, but claimed that he was going to use Lobov’s face as a dartboard. Malignaggi sparred with Lobov’s friend and former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor, who had dropped Malignaggi multiple times in a sparring video which Malignaggi didn’t take kindly to.
Lobov holds a professional MMA record of 13-15 while Malignaggi has a professional boxing record of 36-8, a record that was first built from a record of 21-0 before Malignaggi suffered his first loss to the legendary Miguel Cotto.
If the deal were to go down and Lobov vs Malignaggi was booked at a future BKFC show, it would not only be another big fight for Lobov, but the outcome could be the biggest moment for himself and his career.
