Kimbo Slice Passes Away

At age 42, MMA fighter Kimbo Slice has passed away. At around 8:45pm ET Slice was admitted to a hospital. Many people close to the situation said that it looked bad. Unfortunately, just almost an hour later, Slice passed away. While the reason of death has not been confirmed, it’s seeming to be that Slice had a heart attack and simply could not be revived.
Slice, mostly known for his UFC career, was a boxer and mixed martial arts fighter, and he occasionally acted. Slice was known for “street fighting” style, that wasn’t seen much in the UFC. Slice got into UFC by winning The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. However, in his PPV debut, Slice was knocked out in the second round and after Dana White said it was “probably Kimbo’s last fight in the UFC”. The following day, Slice was released. After UFC Slice had a brief wrestling stint, but pulled out after suffering an injury. His last decided fight took place on January 16, 2015 when he defeated Ken Shamrock via TKO in the first round. He had a fight a month later which he originally won, but later it was found he was on drugs. It was changed to a no contest. It was the last fight of his career and life.
Slice will not be forgotten. Even if he wasn’t the best fighter nor the most successful fighter, he helped bring street fighters to the spotlight. He helped create a bridge between amateurs and professionals and for that we thank him. On this sad evening we ask you keep his family and friends in your prayers.
