As of late on Friday, the San Diego Chargers and wide receiver Keenan Allen have agreed on terms for a contract extension. The extension will be four years, with a base salary of $45 million ($20 million guaranteed).

Allen was also able to receive a $9.5 million dollar signing bonus, which isn’t surprising, considering he is the current face of the franchise.

Allen is currently going into his fourth season in the NFL, and is only 24 years old. Selected as the 76th overall pick (3rd rounder) by the Chargers, Allen has been able to provide monster numbers for the organization.

In 37 career NFL games, Allen has caught 215 passes for 2,554 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. In 2015 alone, Allen caught 67 passes for 725 yards and four touchdowns, before the season for him was cut short due to injury.

This is a big move by the Chargers, as they will put their money towards a wide receiver coming off of season-ending injury. Nonetheless, Allen is without a doubt a top 10 receiver for the 2016 season in my eyes, and I’d look for him to put up great numbers.
