After getting injured during Sunday’s game vs. Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers Wide Receiver Keenan Allen suffered an lacerated kidney. Today it was confirmed that Allen will be missing the rest of the season, due to the injury after having a minor procedure on Monday to stop the bleeding. Allen is expected to make a full recovery. Chargers went on to lose the game on Sunday and are in third place in the AFC West.

In 8 games this season Allen recorded 67 receptions,  4 touchdowns. for 725 yards. Even though Chargers are in third place in the division, Allen has been a big part of the offense. Becoming a big target for quarterback Philip Rivers, four touchdowns in eight games is solid. If he was not out for the season, maybe Allen would be having over 6 touchdown season and over 1000 receiving yards.

Allen is has been a good receiver since coming into the league. He has great hands and good speed to burn the secondary. With him only being 23, there is still time for him to get even better. Right now he can put up more then six touchdowns and 1000 receiving yards a season. With the potential he has, he can become a double digit touchdown a season type of receiver.

Chargers are going to miss a big part of the offense, with Allen being out for the season. Now the other receivers will have to step in and fill in the void at Wide Receiver. Rivers will miss his number one target. With the offensive weapons that he has under his belt in San Diego, he will not be effected that badly with the absence of Allen.

Getting an injury like the one Allen suffered will most likely end your season. The important thing is how Allen will bouche back from his injury, next season with no setbacks in his recovery time. When he comes back next season, it might take him some time to become the receiver that he was. Expect him to make a full recovery, being the deep threat of the San Diego offense.
