The start of July brought another free agency for the NBA where it made some big moves. The Brooklyn Nets signed Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan, while Klay Thompson remained in Golden State.

What everyone has been waiting for is which team will sign Kawhi Leonard. On Friday night, Leonard announced that he will be joining the Clippers.

Leonard spent last season in Toronto, where they took down the Golden State Warriors, who were close to becoming the first team since the 2000-02 Lakers to achieve the three-peat. From what felt like an impossible feat, the Raptors won their first NBA Championship.

Prior to the trade to the Raptors, Leonard was on the San Antonio Spurs, where he beat LeBron James and the Miami Heat, who were also on the edge of a three-peat.

Leonard did express a desire to be on a team in southern California, but no one knew if it was going to be with the Lakers or Clippers. With new teammates in Patrick Beverly, Wilson Chandler and now Paul George, it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out. The Clippers have not made it past the second round in the playoffs.
