Justin Shorter Entering the Transfer Portal

According to several sources, former five-star recruit Justin Shorter of Penn State is entering the transfer portal. The redshirt freshman has yet to live up to his hype to date with only 12 receptions and an abysmal 137 yards receiving.

James Franklin’s interview on Wednesday confirmed all speculation, as he stated the former top-ranked receiver was entering the transfer portal. Franklin did, however, note that this doesn’t mean Shorter won’t return; much like safety Lamont Wade and receiver Cam Sullivan Brown did.

With speculation surrounding the recent decision from Shorter, many are questioning if his previous injury and struggle to keep his weight down are factors for him wanting to change scenery. Some players took to social media to voice their frustrations with Shorter’s decision, one of which was star linebacker Micah Parsons. Although no one is precisely mentioned in his tweet, most of us knew this was directed at teammate Justin Shorter.

Justin Shorter, if he does indeed transfer to another school, would mark the 13th player since 2018 to leave Penn State. With rumors circling Franklin’s future with Penn State, one needs to ask if is this the just the start of more transfers to come.
