Jose Fernandez Lands on DL
The Miami Marlins have had their fair share of struggles in the 2015 MLB season, but starting pitcher Jose Fernandez may be hurting the most. Fernandez has been diagnosed with a right biceps strain, and according to manager Dan Jennings, there is no timetable for his return.
On Friday, Fernandez threw for 76 pitches over five innings against the Atlanta Braves. The following day, the pitcher would complain about stiffness in his shoulder.
Since returning on July 2nd (due to Tommy John Surgery), Fernandez has been 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA. Being one of the many few bright spots for the Marlins, this loss could send the team into a downward spiral.
Will Fernandez be back to pitch this season? Jennings did not rule out the possibility, but it’s safe to say the biggest concern is making sure their ace is healthy for the future.
