Johnson/Uribe Sent to Mets

 

 
In the midst of the MLB Trade Deadline, the New York Mets decided to make a move or two by receiving infielders Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe in return for two minor leaguers and cash considerations. 

For Uribe, this is now the second time he has been traded this season, after previously being traded to the Atlanta Braves from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a six-player deal. Uribe is hitting .272, with 8 home runs and 23 RBI’s in 75 games. 

Johnson, who signed a minor-league deal back in January, is hitting .275 with 9 homeruns and 34 RBI’s in 62 games. Not only has Johnson showed capability on offense, but he’s played first base, outfield, third base and DH this season. 

This was a great pickup by the Mets, as they are statistically the worst at hitting the ball with a .233 team average. As the Trade Deadline ends on July 31st, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Mets continue to pursue players that will help them offensively.
