Joey Gallo had a tremendous debut in the MLB on Tuesday, going 3-4 with four RBI’s (not to mention a homerun as well). Gallo’s performance was one of the best debut’s in rookie recent history, but will he continue the hitting streak?

The Rangers placed Gallo into the lineup after Adrian Beltre had an apparent thumb injury, landing him on the 15-day DL. When Beltre returns, how will the Rangers utilize both men?

Gallo ended up becoming the 63rd man in MLB history to reach base safely on four separate occasions in his debut, dating back to Rockies’ Rafeal Ortega in the 2012 season.

If your a fantasy baseball owner, don’t be too confident that Gallo will be in the starting lineup for the remainder of the season. Beltre has proven himself as one of the highlights of the Rangers roster, so Gallo will have to earn his spot within the next weeks.

If I we’re the general manager of the Rangers, I’d play Gallo as long as Beltre is unable to play. Pitchers may find the holes eventually in Gallo’s swing, and he may return to Triple A until he can improve on his strikeout rate. Gallo’s strikeout rate is at 34% in 146 plate appearances at Frisco (minor leagues).

Can Gallo still prove to be a value to the Rangers roster? Sure. The problem with that theory is that there’s very little space for him on the starting lineup.
