After being let go from the Chicago Cubs, Joe Maddon did not have to wait long to find another job. On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Angels and Maddon agreed to a deal to bring him in as the 22nd manager in club history. Maddon will be replacing Brad Ausmus, who was fired after one season with the team.
When Maddon was let go by Chicago, the Angels were one of multiple teams expected to go after him. The Angels will be looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Maddon has a lot of talent to work with, as he is surrounded with talent in Mike Trout, Kole Calhoun, and Shohei Ohtani.
Before getting hired by the Cubs, Maddon was in charge of turning the Tampa Bay Rays into a franchise that had six consecutive winning seasons.
