It was no secret that Butler desired a trade, as the charade has been ongoing for weeks. The Timberwolves initially received an offer from the Houston Rockets that included 4 first-round picks, but Minnesota ultimately wanted to avoid a new “super team” in the Western Conference.
Butler is currently averaging 21.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game this season. With a potential player option through the 2019-20 season, it has been reported that the 76ers and Butler are expected to agree on a long-term extension in the summer of 2019 before that becomes a barrier.
Does the Jimmy Butler trade make the @sixers the favorite in the East?
