Yet again, Jimmy Butler is improving his game constantly as in an Overtime victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, Butler scored a career high 53 points.
By halftime of the game, the 76ers were up 62-46, a 16 point lead over the Bulls and Butler had scored over half of their points at the time with 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. It almost seemed like just another game and another loss for the Bulls, until the end of the 3rd.
In a great team effort in the 3rd quarter, the Bulls shortened the lead to 2 points, making the score 79-77 at the end of the 3rd. Jimmy Butler had 36 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists leading into the 4th. This was indeed a great comeback for the Bulls, who were almost blown out by the Sixers, which would leave a huge blemish on the Bulls team.
In the 4th quarter, the game was tied up at 104 a piece, Jimmy Butler now had 51 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. This gave him a near even scoring of both halves as he scored 25 in the first and 26 in the second.
The game everyone thought would be an easy victory for the Bulls, would be the game that caused Jimmy Butler to work his hardest. Without Derrick Rose to cut to the basket, without hardly able to catch a break and playing 49 minutes, this was no game to mess around. Jimmy Butler came up with another 2 points and the Bulls won 115-111 in overtime extending their record to 25-13. At the end of the game, Butler put up 53 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in the best performance Jimmy Butler has come to see in his time in the NBA.
