After an unstable relationship with the New York Jets over the last two seasons, it was announced on Tuesday that the team has moved on from their running back. This transaction comes after the team failed to find a trade suitor.
Bell, 28, signed a four-year, $52.5 million deal with the team in March of 2019. During his short tenure, he totaled 264 rushing yards and three touchdowns across 17 games.
With Bell out, the Jets will continue to rely on 37-year old veteran Frank Gore. This season, he has accumulated 204 rushing yards on 64 attempts. New York currently ranks 22nd in the NFL in rushing yards per game (103.4) through the first five weeks of the season.
