Jeremy Lin signs with Brooklyn Nets

With Friday being the first day of NBA Free Agency, it’s no surprise that many deals are happening. One of those deals is Jeremy Lin signing with the Brooklyn Nets. The deal is for three years worth roughly $36M.

Jeremy Lin has played for the Warriors, Rockets, Knicks, Lakers, and Hornets, and now on the Nets. Lin has shown that he really can shine, which we saw during his time with the Knicks. 

While playing for the Knicks, he averaged a career high 14.6 points and 6.2 assists, but since then has only been useful as a bench/role player. 

On the Hornets, he averaged 12 points and 3 assists. This will be a solid addition to the Nets, who don’t have much talent to speak of, especially at the PG position.

The biggest question with Lin is can he have efficient production. He has only played a full season once in his career, and that was in 2012. Lin is used to being a bench player, so it may not work with him being a starter (assuming that he starts). His only competition was Jarrett Jack, but he was bought out, so it seems Lin will be brought in as a starter.

This deal was very generous to Lin to say the least. It is the largest contract of his career, and a very high raise from his contract he signed with the Hornets last year. 

He declined a $2.2M player option, and it obviously was a good gamble as he ended up with a 3-year and $36M contract.
