Jeff Fisher Staying With Rams

After starting the season 4-8, many thought Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher was on the hot seat and getting fired as the team’s head coach in the offseason. That is not the case now it seems like, as the team signed Fisher to a two-year extension, keeping him in Los Angeles up until the 2018 season.

Ever since getting hired in 2012, Fisher has a record of 31 wins, 43 losses, and 1 draw in six seasons with the team. The team never made the playoffs during his tender and never finished better than 3rd in the NFC West, winning no more than 7 games.

Fisher got his first head coaching job near the end of the 1994 NFL season with the Houston Oilers, who later relocated to Tennessee and became the Tennessee Titans.

In his 17 seasons with the team, he had a record of 142 wins, 120 losses, and 0 ties. The team made the playoffs 6 times, won the division 3 times and made it to the Super Bowl in the 2000 season, losing to the Rams in the end.

On the team side of things, this is a horrible move by the organization. It is obvious that Fisher is not working out as the head coach. This shows when the team does not take a step forward to become a contender and are always taking a step back every season it seems like.

On the Fisher side of things, he is really lucky that he has a job right now, as his performance during the last six seasons does not show that he should have been fired at least last season.

According to a report by Adam Schefter, this new extension given to Fisher does not mean that the team will keep him next season. The performance of the team in the last few games of the season will determine if Fisher will be back with the team next season.

Even though the Rams are not having the best season, there is a lot of talent on this team on defense and offense. With players like Todd Gurley, Jared Goff, Aaron Donald, Alec Ogletree, and Mark Baron.

The team has the roster to be a contender in a few years, but in my eyes, the team can not move forward and become contenders until they make the right decision, and that right decision is getting rid of Fisher and bringing in a head coach that can help them get to the next level.
