It seems like Jason Pierre-Paul had too much fun on the 4th of July weekend using fireworks. He is in the hospital with injuries in both of his hands that include severe burns and possible nerve damage. To add to the dismay, he refused to see Giants officials at the hospital and they barely made it past the waiting room. Updated news has come out since the visit that he has had his right index finger amputated this past Wednesday.

This is really a game changer for his career in football as well as his contract with the Giants. Possibly missing 6 games or more with this injury in addition to adjusting to the missing finger. This can also be a statement in general for other players, you can risk your career with everything you do.

Will JPP even be playing next year with the Giants? The contract deadline to get a large deal done would be July 15th, and it seems like the defensive end isn’t even communicating with the New York officials. Conflicting reports make it practically impossible to create a timetable for when JPP could even return.
