Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Jameis Winston is taking home some hardware. NFL announced Winston has won Pepsi Rookie Of The Year, beating out players such as Amari Cooper, Todd Gurley, Tyler Locket, and Marcus Peters.

Winston was originally drafted first overall in last years NFL draft. He proved he was worth the first overall pick, putting him up good numbers in his rookie season.

In 16 games, Winston threw for 4,042 yards, 22 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and all with a passer rating of 84.2. Winston also rushed for 213 yards in attempts with 6 touchdowns.

With all the reports about Winston heading into the draft and continuing all season, he had a great season, proving a lot of people wrong. Critics were saying that he would be a bust, but so far into his career, Winston has no sign of becoming a bust.

In only his rookie season, Winston showed that he has a lot of upside. He is a good pocket passer along with solid arm strength.

One thing that is great about him is that he can hurt you outside of the pocket as well with his speed. When Winston does not see anyone open, he is known to run for a good few yards. Winston showed that he has the potential to become the franchise quarterback the Buccaneers were searching for.

Winston won in a really outstanding rookie class this season. Most people say that Gurley or Cooper should of won it. Winston deserves this award, after everything that he had to deal with all season and the production he had all season. If Winston keeps getting better as a quarterback, there will be many more awards he will be getting in his career.
