Isaiah Thomas Out For The Rest Of The Postseason

After a humiliating loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers last night, the news just keeps on getting worse for the Boston Celtics. Guard Isaiah Thomas has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason with a hip injury. Thomas suffered the injury during last night’s game and did not return to the game. Before the injury, Thomas was on fire during this playoff run putting the team on his back helping them win a lot of close games leading up to the Eastern Conference Finals.

During the postseason, Thomas has averaged 23.3 points per game, 6.7 assists per game and 3.1 rebounds per game.  Thomas played the same way he did in the regular season in the playoffs, finding open shots, driving to the basket, and making big plays when the team needed them. He also had some extra motivation this playoff run playing for his sister who died in a car accident the day before game one of the first-round matchup against the Chicago Bulls.

For the Celtics, losing someone like Isaiah Thomas who is your leading scorer, and leader on the court could not have come at a worse time for them. Without Thomas, the chances of the team trying to compete with Cleveland just went down dramatically. It was hard the first two games with him on the court trying  to defeat them but now without him, it will be a huge challenge for the Celtics who will more than likely get either get swept by the Cavaliers or lose in five games it would take a miracle for the team to come back in this series.

With Thomas out, someone will have to step up in his absence for the rest of the postseason and that someone is Avery Bradley. Bradley has been decent this playoff run, but with Thomas out, he has to put the team on his back and help the team reach the NBA Finals which seems really unlikely with the way the team has been playing the past two games against the Cavaliers and being down 2-0 in the series does not help either.
