Is This the End of Nick Swisher?
According to a series of Tweets given out by Swisher, he has stated that he will take into account all of his options for the 2016-17 season. Swisher has not been able to make an appearance in the MLB so far this season.
Swisher was recently released by the Atlanta Braves, and then he winded up returning to the Yankees on a minor league contract.
Swisher and his wife recently had a new daughter, so he felt it was best to take this time off and be with his family. With the 35-year old not getting any younger, could this be a sign of retirement?
“I don’t think we would have signed him if we didn’t want to take a look at him,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said before New York played at San Diego. “We just felt some guys were ahead of him at the time. He was never called and I respect what he did. He had another baby and he’ll enjoy that”.
Swisher is currently making $15 million from the Cleveland Indians from a contract he signed back in 2013. The Yankees had an opportunity to bring Swisher to the majors, but instead brought up prospect Chris Parmalee (who eventually was injured).
In 1,527 games in his career, Swisher has 245 HRs and 803 RBIs.
