Is Lyoto Machida Signing with Bellator the Right Plan?

Per reports, Lyoto Machida has left the UFC for Bellator MMA. With the upcoming transition, the question is whether Machida will be successful or not.

Machida has already defeated UFC legends such as Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, Randy Cotoure, Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin and Shogun Rua. As a former Light Heavyweight champion, Machida has cemented the way for Brazilian UFC prospects to be successful.

The karate style of Machida is as authentic as it can get. With a professional record of 24 wins and 8 losses, can he be just as successful in Bellator?

The current Light Heavyweight champion, Ryan Bader, has been knocked out by Machida before, and even though Bader is in the semifinals to crown a new Bellator Heavyweight champion, he could be on his way to fighting Machida once again. While Bader has been on a roll, a fighter such as Machida could make for a must-watch event.

Machida can also be labeled as a Middleweight fighter, which brings Gegard Mousasi into the picture. A fight of this magnitude would be a dream come true for select Bellator fans. Both Mousasi and Machida are explosive and love to prove themselves when it matters most.

Before Machida can even think about going for gold, he will be forced to prove himself in Bellator. While Machida has plenty of experience in his belt, this could be the ultimate test to his MMA legacy.
