Just one week ago from today, the Houston Texans lost their starting running back, Lamar Miller, to a torn ACL. In addition, the front office traded with the Cleveland Browns in order to receive Duke Johnson Jr. While Johnson is a versatile back, he has never proven to be a three-down asset.
The Houston Texans have an opportunity to bring in a veteran in LeSean McCoy on a short-term deal to replace Miller.
Last year, QB Deshaun Watson had the third-most rushes in the NFL among quarterbacks with 97. McCoy has done well with quarterbacks that run. When Tyrod Taylor was the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills in 2016, McCoy had 1,267 yards on 5.4 yards per carry. In 2017, he had 1,138 yards with 4.0 yards per carry.
The latest reports indicate that Houston is in the market to trade for another running back, but why not sign a proven veteran in LeSean McCoy?
