Indianapolis Colts Close To Firing Chuck Pagano

After leading the team to a losing season, and potentially missing the playoffs heading into week 17, ESPN’s Mike Wells reports Indianapolis Colts are planning to fire head coach Chuck Pagano after the season. That would end his four year tender with the team.
In four seasons with the team, Pagano has a record of 40-23. He’s had three straight seasons of finishing 11-5, making the playoffs all three years, but never making the Super Bowl. Getting eliminated in the Wildcard round in year one of that streak by Baltimore Ravens, AFC Divisional round in year two by New England Patriots, and AFC Championship round last season in by New England Patriots.
From the start of the season, the team was not in good shape. Andrew Luck was not playing like the franchise quarterback that he is known to be. The offensive line was letting him get hit and sacked too many times. They lost the first two games of the season before winning the third.
Defensively the team did have some bright spots, but the whole team just looked bad this season. As a whole, the team could not bring it all together like they did the last three seasons.
Losing Luck to injury twice did not help at all either. Even though Backup Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck played fine in Luck’s absence, in order to make the playoffs, the team needs Luck at 100% healthy.
It was well documented this season, that the team was going to make changes this offseason. Already firing offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton during the season. After the season, the team is having right now it is the right move to make changes in the team. Even though the team has been good the past few years, the team could not make the Super Bowl. That is the main reason why Pagano is most likely going to be fired after the season. Look for the team to find a new head coach during the offseason that will help lead the team to their first Super Bowl Championship since the 07 season.
