The Indiana Pacers added a key piece to their roster today, signing shooting guard Monta Ellis to a 4 year, $44 million deal.  Ellis was one of the best scoring guards on the free agent market this offseason and averaged 19 points and 4 steals with the Dallas Mavericks last season.  After opting out of his contract with Dallas, Ellis was connected to the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings early on.  Ellis is expected to be Indiana’s 2nd or 3rd option on offense, trailing All-Star forward Paul George, and though undersized, is extremely dangerous shooting and driving off the dribble.  However, several Dallas sources have cited that Monta was a factor in the Mavericks’ chemistry issues last season, so it’ll be seen if he can get along with his new teammates and Coach Frank Vogel in Indiana.
