After a successful Featherweight title defense against Brian Ortega, Max Holloway proved he is still at the top of his game. The bout on Saturday night ended after the 4th round, as the medical staff was concerned for Ortega’s health.

The win streak for Holloway is now at 13, and he is 3 behind former Middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The strategy of Ortega to keep the fight standing eventually did not pay off, as Holloway’s power, speed and conditioning was showcased.

After sweeping the Featherweight division, the next step for Holloway needs to be a move up to the Lightweight division. The Lightweight division holds talents such as Tony Ferguson, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor; all names that could generate a further legacy for Holloway. The division also holds Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was scheduled to fight at UFC 223 against Holloway on April 7th before weight issues for Holloway prevented the fight from happening.

As Holloway notes, “To be the best, you have to beat the best, and the best is blessed”. This is a slogan that Holloway proved at UFC 231 when he overcame the undefeated Ortega with a performance to remember for the ages.
