Greinke Ends Winless Pitching Streak
Nine starts is the magic number for Zach Greinke. Nine starts in a row in which the Dodgers pitcher has yet to bring in a win for the organization. As Greinke tried once again on Saturday, he managed to defeat the Miami Marlins by a score of 2-0.
Although the numbers seem like flaws, Greinke actually leads the MLB with an ERA of 1.58, and has managed to maintain a record of 6-2. The fact that Greinke couldn’t win in nine straight starts is remarkably disappointing, but what about the fact that he has allowed one or less runs in 12 of 16 starts?
Greinke would hold the Marlins to four hits and one walk, pushing his streak to 20.2 innings without a run scored on him. With Greinke able to pull a victory in for the clubhouse, could his hot streak continue? There has yet to be signs of decline in the pitcher, so there is no reason to believe that hitters will figure it out anytime soon.
