Gerrit Cole became one of the top prizes in free agency this year and he is about to get paid like one. On Wednesday, the New York Yankees signed Gerrit Cole to a 9 year deal worth $ 324 M.

In 33 starts last season, Cole had a record of 20-5, 2.50 ERA, 326 strikeouts, a WHIP of 0.89 in 212.1 innings. Cole set a career-high in wins, ERA, strikeouts, WHIP, and Innings Pitched.

With Gerrit Cole getting paid $396 M for the next 9 years, expectations will be high on him to perform at an elite level. In New York, Cole will be the leader of the starting rotation.
