Geno Smith Cleared to Begin Practicing
After being punched in the face by former teammate Ik Enemkpali, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has been able to participate in limited practices.
Less than two weeks since the incident with Enemkpali, Smith was caught wearing a red shirt (symbolizing no contact allowed) during practice on Monday. Smith would be participating in light jogging, as well as throwing the ball around with a few of his teammates.
The original timetable for Smith’s return was stated as 6-10 weeks, but now it has become unclear to if the quarterback could return earlier.
Geno Smith has become the centerpiece of the New York media, although his starting position at quarterback is uncertain. Former Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has made promising strides with the organization, but it all depends on who the Jets trust more.
