If you watch professional wrestling, then you learn about the men and women behind the business. For Los Angeles native TJ Perkins, his journey was full of moments until the end.
From 2001-2016, Perkins was a part of NJPW, PWG, ROH, and TNA. He made his first steps towards success after a qualification win against Fred Yehi, which entered Perkins in the WWE’s Cruiserweight Classic.
Within the tournament, Perkins defeated Da Mack, Johnny Gargano, Rich Swann, and one of the biggest stars in NJPW, Kota Ibushi. By the end, he overcame Gran Metalik to become the Cruiserweight Champion.
With 205 Live just starting up at the time, Perkins wasn’t able to market himself properly. When the company became more acknowledged by more fans, Perkins was no longer champion.
Despite being champion for only 46 days, Perkins was part of 205 Live with former champions such as Neville, Swann and the Brian Kendrick.
On February 22nd, Arn Anderson, Tye Dillinger and Hideo Itami and Perkins were all released from their WWE contracts. For the former champion, he evidently gave all he could. The promotions that could show interest in Perkins include Impact Wrestling, NJPW, ROH, and possibly AEW.
