Jason Pierre-Paul, DE New York Giants

Source- ESPN.com

Over the 4th of July weekend, Jason Pierre-Paul suffered injuries to his hands in a firework incident. According to ESPN, in an article (which didn’t specify an author), they stated that JPP suffered injuries to both of his hands including several burns, and possible nerve damage. The injuries are not believed to be career threatening. His future could be ultimately be decided in the next week, as July 15th is the deadline to sign franchise tagged players, in which is the category Pierre-Paul falls under.

Analysis: The Giants have been patiently awaiting to meet with Paul. They franchise tagged him this year, but he still has yet to sign his $14.8 million tender. After this incident, the Giants could withdraw their franchise tag, making him an unrestricted free agent eligible to sign with any NFL team. It’ll be interesting to see how the Giants organization reacts, and I’ll reserve judgement until a decision is made.

Teddy Bridgewater, QB Minnesota Vikings

Source- Fantasy Pros

Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner has stated that he’s excited to see what second year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater can do for this Vikings team. Sources have said that he has been creating good chemistry with teammates Charles Johnson and Cordarrelle Patterson. It has also been widely agreed that with running back Adrian Peterson returning, a lot of pressure will be off the passing game.

Analysis: In the first part, I am glad to hear that he’s creating chemistry with some of the other wideouts. As for the second part, it’s a no-brainer that AP takes pressure off of the passing game. Defenses are going to need some agility to play these guys, since we all know the kind of wheels AP has, but Bridgewater and his wideouts are pretty fast as well. I would take Teddy as my backup QB this year.

Alshon Jeffery, WR Chicago Bears

Source- Jake Perper, Bears Correspondant

With Brandon Marshall in New York with the Jets, Alshon Jeffery is the clear-cut No. 1 WR for the Bears. I currently have him ranked as the No. 9 WR and 21st overall player in standard scoring leagues. It has also been reported that he has kept in great shape, and hasn’t missed a step coming into training camp.

Analysis: He had 85 grabs for 1,133 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns in 2014. Over the final three games of the season, Jeffery was the No. 1 guy with Marshall out with an injury. The 25-year-old averaged four catches and 61 yards and caught two total touchdowns in those final three games. He averaged over five catches and 73 yards with eight touchdowns in 13 games prior. Take from that what you want, the Bears’ offense stunk at the end of the year, and now with offensive coordinator Adam Gase, the sky is the limit for Jeffery. He could be a Demaryius Thomas clone in Chicago under Gase.
