Eric Weddle to move on from Chargers

In one of the most unsurprising moves you’ll see this offseason, safety Eric Weddle will move on from the San Diego Chargers.

“I probably won’t speak to them again.” Weddle said. This concludes an ugly year for the Weddle-Chargers relationship. It all started with a contract dispute and the Chargers refusing to give him a new contract. That caused Weddle to hold out of training camp. We all know about how the team fined him for watching his daughter perform at halftime. Then he was placed on season-ending IR with a groin injury.

Seemingly trying to prove to the team that he could still go, he worked out on New Years Eve at full speed. That didn’t convince the team to let him play. As a matter of fact, he wasn’t allowed to travel to Denver when the team played the Broncos in Week 17 because “the plane was too small”.

Weddle has been one of the league’s top safety’s since 2010. He’s been loyal to this organization ever since he was drafted and it’s sad they couldn’t work things out. Wherever Weddle ends up, they’re getting an elite playmaker and a huge upgrade to their secondary.
