Eovaldi Shut Down With Elbow Injury

 

 
On Monday, the New York Yankees announced that starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will be shut down for the next two weeks with elbow inflammation. An MRI took place, and the Yankees felt there was no other choice but to sit him out. 

Right now, according to ESPN, it is unclear if Eovaldi will be available to pitch at all for the rest of the season or even the playoffs. 

The 25-year old underwent Tommy John surgery back in high school. Just this season, Eovaldi is 14-3 with a 4.20 ERA. The young pitcher will surely be missed, as he was projected to be a starter if the Yankees made it into the divisional series. 

Options to replace Eovaldi are Adam Warren, who had mediocre success earlier in the season. Another option would be Bryan Mitchell, who seems to have the most potential at the moment. At the worst case, fans may see Chris Capuano called back up from Triple-A for the time being.
