Edelman Appeal Denied, Suspended Four Games

Just a few weeks ago, New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman was given a four-game suspension to open the 2018-19 NFL season for violation of the league’s PED policy. On June 25th, the two-time Super Bowl champion held his appeal meeting, which was ultimately denied on July 3rd.
Even with mounting a critically acclaimed strong defense, Edelman is now scheduled to lose nearly $1 million in salary, per-game bonuses, and also including his signing bonus. Once preseason ends, Edelman will be unable to use any team facilities, and will not be permitted to have contact with any members of the Patriots staff or personal.
Edelman is set to miss games against the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins. With the loss of Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola, it’s difficult to say how this will effect quarterback Tom Brady.
This is disappointing for the Patriots organization, and is obviously not the outcome that their fans were hoping for. This won’t rattle the Patriots chances at early season success, but it may play a small factor.
