Dwyane Wade and Lebron James nearly signed with Chicago, what would’ve happened

No one will ever forget the summer of 2010 as far as the NBA goes. It has to have been the biggest free agent signing ever as far as moves by one team, the Miami Heat. They kept Dwyane Wade and signed LeBron James and Chris Bosh. The Heat could’ve lost at least Wade and LeBron if not Bosh too, though, as Wade has revealed.

What may be not as well known is all 3 of the big 3 were free agents, including Wade. Wade had attracted LeBron to go with him and was having meetings with the Bulls to find out if they had room for the big 3. The Bulls would’ve likely had to move cap and add those three to bolster an excellent roster. In 2010 Derrick Rose was healthy, Joakim Noah was still fairly healthy and a defensive threat.

If at least Wade and LeBron, let alone all 3 players, went to Chicago that team would’ve been greater than the Heat team. The Heat would have been the ultimate loser instead of the ultimate winner they ended up being. And they would’ve won more rings and stuck together longer than the Heat most likely.

A few questions come to mind with this. Would Derrick Rose win his MVP for the 2010-11 season if this took place? Would the decreased workload save Roses health? Just how good would this team be?

If this move was to happen you have to assume Bosh, LeBron, and Wade all three ended up in Chicago they’d likely have four big scoring threats on the floor, a healthy athletic Derrick Rose who flourished driving in the paint, LeBron who, is LeBron and that’s enough said, Bosh a stretch four who could get it done in the post, and Wade who was pretty healthy in 2010 and could also drive. They’d also have a very good defensive team anchored by Noah. This team would be able to score on and stop teams at will.

But if these guys were interested in Chicago, why didn’t it happen? It’s because Pat Riley and the Heat made the first move. Before Chicago could clear the cap, Miami signed a deal with Chris Bosh and it became a domino effect. The signing of Bosh led Wade to resign with the Heat and the final and most important domino fell, in his ESPN special “The Decision” LeBron James said “..I’m taking my talents to South Beach.”, and thus the best super team in recent memory was born.
