With Football season right around the corner, if you are a fantasy football fan, now is the time to get your team ready. One hot topic in fantasy is who should get drafted first between Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortels. You can not go wrong with either one, but who should go first off the board?

Last season in 16 games, Carr threw for 3,987 yards, 32 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, with a passer rating of 91.1. After an impressive rookie season, Carr was looking to improve his numbers from his rookie season.

Heading into the second season, everyone was talking about if Carr hit the second year slump that most rookies hit. The answer to that question is no, Carr produced even better numbers in his second season, throwing for more passing yards and for more touchdowns.

Last season in 16 games for Bortles, he threw for 4,428 yards, 35 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, with a passer rating of 88.2. After a rookie season where he showcased some struggles, everyone was looking for Bortles to take the next step in his second season. In his second season, Bortles improved drastically from his rookie season, throwing for more passing yards and for more touchdowns.

Entering the league in 2014, both Bortles and Carr has showcased that they both have what it takes to be great quarterbacks in the league. Both guys put up impressive numbers for their respective teams last season, even if it was their second season in the league.

Last season,  Bortles put up the better fantasy numbers than Carr, and it helped that he had two big-time targets in Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, who both had amazing seasons last season. Both individuals received for over 1,000 yards, and catching double digit touchdowns.

Both quarterbacks have targets to potentially have an amazing fantasy season, Carr has Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, whereas will have Hurns and Robinson.

Even though Bortles had the better season last season, I feel that Carr is the better quarterback with the offense that he has. Carr has a better arm than Bortles and throws the ball more accurately.

Both quarterbacks can also make plays their feet, scrambling when the receivers are not open. As a fantasy owner, it is great to have a quarterback  who can make plays with their arm and feet effectively.

In my opinion, if it is between Carr and Bortles and you just have to draft one or the other, I would have to go with Carr. Raiders have an offense that is ready to take the step and Carr has improved so much in the last two seasons in fantasy, so take Carr over Bortles.

Both quarterbacks will be sleepers this upcoming season, Carr and Bortles are not ranked high in most fantasy mock drafts. If you are in the 5th round or later, both of them should be there and they are both bound to have amazing seasons.
