DeMarcus Cousins Going to L.A., or Just Another Rumor?
24 hours after an article was produced about Lakers rumors involving Dwayne Wade, a new story has developed that L.A. is interested in Sacremento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins. Since Cousins is not a free agent, this would obviously involve a trade, potentially with three teams as a total; The Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings and of course, the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although the rumors continue to fly, Vlade Divac, the Kings’ new lead decision-maker, has claimed that the possibility of Cousins being on the move is “not happening”. All three of the involving teams have top 6 picks in this years upcoming NBA draft, so it wouldn’t be a shock for L.A. to throw their #2 pick away in a potential trade for a proven star.
As for the Magic, they hold a young and fit center, Nikola Vucevic, who would most likely move to the Kings roster, attempting to fill Cousins void. According to ESPN.com, they believe that Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and the #2 pick would have to be given up in order to receive Cousins, but I personally believe that it could be too much for one player.
Who are the dark horses in the “Cousins Sweepstakes”? The Denver Nuggets and the Boston Celtics have showed increasing interest through the offseason. By the looks of it, any of the struggling teams mentioned previously would benefit a tremendous amount from the addition of DeMarcus Cousins.
