DeMar DeRozan Unlikely to Return to San Antonio?

With the current NBA season on suspension, the San Antonio Spurs are already likely looking forward to next season. However, they may be without their largest superstar in DeMar DeRozan.

According to CNBC’s Jabari Young, DeRozan is not happy with his current situation in San Antonio.

Listen, I don’t have to sugarcoat anything. DeMar DeRozan is not happy in San Antonio, OK? The offense is not running as smoothly as one should think with a guy like him in the lineup, and there are problems are there, right? And so you have to decide if you’re going to take that money of if you’re going to come back to a situation that’s just not suitable. I mean, it didn’t work. They got the deal done. It’s over. I mean, the experiment is not working.

At this time, DeRozan is expected to decline his upcoming player option worth over $27M if the two sides can not agree upon a long-term extension.

This season, the 30-year old is averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game. Other players that could be included in the upcoming free agent class would be Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis and Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green.
