David Price Hurts Elbow, Chances for Boston 

As of Thursday, it has been reported that Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price is going in for an MRI, after there was discomfort in his left forearm. The 31-year old ace will seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrew.

Price was scheduled to start on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves for his spring training debut. Red Sox manager John Farrell has gone on record, stating that the ball club is definitely worried about Price needing potential Tommy John surgery. 

Price is currently in the second year of his contract, in which he signed with the Red Sox for 7 years, and $217 million. Without a doubt, if this injury to Price is what it seems, it could potentially hurt the Red Sox chances down the road. 

Price has been one of the most durable pitchers over the last few years, pitching over 200 innings in six of his last seven seasons. On top of that, Price pitched an MLB-leading 230 innings this past season. 

The Red Sox do have options if Price misses time, with both Joe Kelly and Eduardo Rodriguez on the active roster. Look for the rotation to be more diverse if Price misses time with surgery, simply because there aren’t many pitchers that can be on the mound for the same amount of time Price was.
