While other major sports continue to work their way back to resumption, UFC President Dana White has been adamant about keeping his sport running. Despite a few hiccups along the way, the continued talk of ‘Fight Island’ is becoming a reality.
On ESPN’s First Take, White stated that Fight Island would be located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. For those who remember, Yas Island was the hosting venue of UFC 112 in April 2010. The main event included an Anderson Silva victory over Demian Maia.
White continued to dive into the UFC 251 lineup, which will take place on July 11th. Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman will take on #1-ranked contender Gilbert Burns. Accoring to reports, the UFC attempted to book Jorge Masvidal, but the two sides were unable to agree on a deal.
In the Featherweight division, Champion Alexander Volkanovski will face Max Holloway in a rematch. The two previously fought at UFC 245 in which Volkanovski won via decision.
Another important cornerstone fight will take place in the Bantamweight division, as Petr Yan and Jose Aldo will look to fill the void that Henry Cejudo has left.
