We’re a few weeks away from the start of spring training, and now is the time for teams to make last minute offseason moves. The Tampa Bay Rays got some outfield help, acquiring Corey Dickerson and a minor league player from the Colorado Rockies for Jake McGee and a minor league player.

Last season in 63 games, Dickerson hit 10 homeruns, 31 RBI, with a .304 batting average, and a .333 OBP. Coming off an 24 homerun season in 2014, last season Dickerson did not produce the same numbers due to injuries. Dickerson had average numbers playing in only 63 games.

Rays are getting a good bat in the lineup. Dickerson just hit for 24 homeruns not long ago, so the team has a chance to get a steal with Dickerson. Dickerson could get slotted into the middle of the lineup, giving the team a good bat in the middle of the lineup. He is also a good player in the outfield as well. The team also got a minor league pitcher, but the main piece of this deal is Dickerson. Rays did lose a bullpen arm in McGee, but it was worth it seeing how he played last season for the team.

Rockies are getting a good bullpen arm in McGee, who will have a chance to become the closer come Spring Training, competing with pitchers like Adam Ottavino. McGee can come in the 8th or 9th inning, depending on how the team is performing and produce good numbers.

Rays got a good outfielder in Dickerson, and all the team had to give up was someone in McGee who was not performing well the past few seasons. Rockies could of gotten more for Dickerson, but the team wanted to get rid of him right away since spring training is a few weeks away. The team did get a bullpen arm, but not the same value as Dickerson. In the end Rays come out as the winners in this deal, while Rockies lose in this deal.
