After weeks of wait and speculation, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick looks like wants out of San Francisco. The quarterback’s agent has reportedly requested a trade from the team.

Last season in 9 games, Kaepernick threw for 1,615 yards, 6 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, with a passer rating of 78.5. He also rushed for 254 yards, 1 touchdown, fumbling the ball 4 times, in 45 attempts. Kapernick had a nightmare of a season, leading him to being benched for Blaine Gabbert and ending his season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Kaepernick last season he was just in the wrong system, with a coaching staff that was trying to make him a pocket passer. Kapernick is more of a duel threat type of quarterback, someone who can run and pass effectively. It does not surprise me that he does not want to be San Francisco after what transpired this past season.

One team that could have an interest for him are the Houston Texans. They are in need of a franchise quarterback if they want to compete in the AFC. Kaepernick could be that franchise quarterback they’ve been searching for. He has playoff experience and even Super Bowl experience. Kaepernick could fit well in the Bill O’Brien offensive system.

No matter what happens in the next few weeks leading up to free agency, one thing is for sure: the chances that Kaepernick stays with the 49ers after this offseason are small.
