Round 4 goes to Clemson by knockout.

The Tigers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 44-16 to win their 3rd NCAA football championship and their 2nd in 4 years. They also became the first major college football team to go 15-0 since 1897.

The story for Clemson heading into the game was true freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and while he had a solid game going 20/32 with 347 yards and 3 touchdowns, his supporting cast made his job that much easier.

Travis Etienne scored 3 times, Justyn Ross made some incredible catches, and the defense forced 2 turnovers while holding Alabama to their lowest point total of the season.

The Tide were dominated in a way we haven’t seen in quite some time. They turned the ball over on downs 3 times, all of them within the Clemson 25-yard line. Tua Tagovailoa was pulled early in the fourth quarter, but Jalen Hurts couldn’t get anything going in his one drive either. In Saban’s Alabama tenure, his teams had never trailed by more than 21 points until tonight.

2018 Clemson should be in the debate for greatest team of all time. With likely 2 more years of both Lawrence and Ross, we may get to see Clemson vs Alabama round 5.
