Chris Iannetta Signed By Seattle

Offseason is starting up, one team to look at this offseason is Seattle Mariners. The team has some holes to fill, if the team wants to make it back to the playoffs. According to reports the team filled one of the holes signing free agent Chris Iannetta to a one year deal worth $4.25 Million. Iannetta spent the last four season with the Los Angeles Angels.
Last season with the Angels, Iannetta had an average of .188, 10 homeruns, 34 RBI, with an OBP of .293 in 92 games played. Iannetta was the everyday catcher for the team, last season helping them in trying to push for a playoff spot in a strong American League. Even though the team missed the playoffs Ianneta was still a good bat in the lineup.
Even though Iannetta is not a franchise catcher, he is a good catcher to have for depth. Iannetta is god behind the plate, blocking the plate pretty well with a good arm to throw people out at the bases. When he up at bat Iannetta is not a big power hitter, but what he is good at is hitting the ball for contract. Getting on base helping the baserunners score runs.
This is a smart move by Seattle, the team needs a reliable veteran catcher to backup starting catcher Mike Zunino. Who had trouble last season behind the plate. With him being 24 Iannetta can come in producing good numbers, giving Zunnino some games off Iannetta can also be a mentor to Zunino, since the kid has a lot to learn in the majors. Iannetta can be slotted into the middle of the order, giving the team more then five homeruns a season and 30 plus RBIS.
