The San Diego Chargers currently hold the number three pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but that won’t stop them from making a couple big moves this offseason.
For one, the Chargers have decided to sign free agent wide receiver and kick returner Travis Benjamin. The former Browns player had his finest season in 2015, with 966 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns.
This is a huge weapon for San Diego, as Benjamin seems to be a one of a kind. With the perfect balance of speed and the ability to catch the ball, Benjamin makes it look so easy sometimes.
Another big move happened on Wednesday, when the Chargers decided to re-sign Antonio Gates for another two years. It is projected that Gates will end his career after his contract is over.
The 35-year old veteran has spent all 13 years of his career in San Diego. In 11 games last season, Gates had 5 touchdowns for 630 receiving yards.
The Chargers are defiantly making some big moves this year, looking to bounce themselves straight back into contention.
