CC Sabathia Opens Up on Rehab

The day before the Yankees were set to face the Houston Astros in the AL Wildcard, CC Sabathia entered alcohol rehab. Sabathia said he had “no other option” than to check into rehab.
Sabathia made this public during an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America”. Sabathia had his wife, Amber, along side him during the interview. The interview will air on Friday, November 6th.
“It was just the time,” Sabathia said in a preview released by ABC. “Like I said, I know it was a bad time of the season, but I woke up on that Sunday morning in Baltimore and there was no other option for me but to get help.”
On October 10th, the Yankees lost to the Houston Astros 3-0 to end their season.
“I understand where, you know, fans would be upset and people would not understand,” Sabathia said. “If it was my knee or if it was anything else, then people wouldn’t have a problem with it.
“You know, it being alcoholism, it was tough for people to swallow, but it’s the same thing.”
I think we all know that life is more important that baseball. At the end of the day, baseball, just like any other sport, is a game. Sabathia did what he needed to do to right his life. I respect him for that.
“Just getting back with my teammates, being back in Yankee Stadium, enjoying the fans and, you know, pitching,” Sabathia said. “That’s what I love to do, competing. I’ll be back out there 100%, ready to go.”
It’s good to see Sabathia getting back to what he does best, pitch.
