Cavs Set Three Point Records, Beat Hawks

Wednesday night was historic for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They broke not one, but two three-point records as they blew out the Atlanta Hawks. 

They not only took possession of these three-point records, but have won six straight playoff games. The Cavs also set a foothold in the series, making it improbable that the Hawks will come back and win. A team with Lebron James on it has never lost a series after starting it off 2-0.

There have been many remarkable numbers to consider with the Cavs’ 6-0 start to the postseason, such as the fact that Kevin Love has had a double-double in every game, the fact that the only game Kyrie Irving didn’t score 20 was on Wednesday, and the fact that LeBron James is 6-of-10 from 3 against the Hawks after shooting just 4-of-19 from deep in the first round against the Detroit Pistons.

Even with all of these fascinating milestones, none of them compare to the threes Cleveland made in Game 2. These 25 threes are even  more impressive by the fact that 18 of them were splashed in one half (also a record). 

The Cavs have made 20 or more threes in two games; game 2 against the Pistons and game 2 against the Hawks. Ten different players hit three pointers in the game.

They had a hot shooting night as they made history. JR Smith made 7 three’s, going 7-13, leading the parade. JR Smith has a green light to shoot any time. 

After the game, JR Smith said “Every time I shoot the ball, I have the confidence that it’s going to go in.”

This is a confidence that the Cavs team likely shares after this game.  

“If they shoot the ball like that, I don’t know if anyone can beat them, to be honest.” Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver said after the game.
