Carson Wentz Out With Hairline Fracture

Ever since the NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles fan base has been waiting to see rookie quarterback Carson Wentz play in a game. News goes from good to bad for Wentz, after he played in his first preseason game Thursday. Wentz has suffered a hairline fracture in his ribs, and the timetable for his return has not been set yet.
During his tenure at North Dakota State, Wentz made his presence known for being a top quarterback prospect coming out of a small school, which is really unheard of since most top draft quarterback prospects play in the major schools.
During the game, Wentz did not put up outstanding stats, since he was limited on playing time. From what the coaches saw from Wentz in his first game, he impressed them.
The team should hope this is not a long-term injury. A hairline fracture in the ribs could be a big injury. Luckily, this injury happened now and not when the team needs him the most. Not that you want to see him hurt at any time, but it won’t be a huge blow right now.
Wentz will be losing a lot of preseason snaps if this keeps him out for most of the preseason. Depending on any setbacks, once Wentz recovers from his injury he should be all ready to contribute in the role the team puts him.
The team is now down to two quarterbacks in Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel, who the team signed this off-season to sit behind Bradford. Both quarterbacks are ok to start the season, but the pressure is now higher on both of them since they are the only two guys on the depth chart as of right now who has experience.
