In what will quite possibly be the biggest fight for the UFC in 2017, current Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is set to face off against his biggest challenge, again. Cormier will have to defend against Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 214, where Cormier will either defeat the fighter who is known as one of the most unstoppable men in UFC Lightweight history, or he will fall short in defeat once again.

Every few months, we get to witness huge bouts take place in the octagon, from McGregor-Diaz II, Miocic-Dos Santos II, and most recently, Whittaker-Romero. All these fights had a strong buildup, and was either taken to the full limit, or a shocking ending took place.

The second fight between Jones and Cormier is likely going to be within the same sentence as the aforementioned events, simply due to how much pent-up anger these men have for one another. When the two first faced off, it was Jones who would defend and retain against Cormier by a unanimous decision. Afterwards, Jones was stripped of the Light Heavyweight Championship after being involved in a hit-and-run incident.

Cormier would go on to face Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 to not only defeat Johnson, but finally win the Light Heavyweight title, which he went on to retain against Alexander Gustaffson, and in a rematch with Johnson. Throughout all those fights, it was constantly rumored that Jones was coming back and going after Cormier for the title. In result, we constantly overheard about Cormier getting injured, or Jones getting suspended yet again.

Cormier is without a doubt the most elevated fighter in the UFC today, but one thing is for sure, and it’s that Jones is the most intimidating man in the industry. His punches, kicks, takedowns, and submission skills are what has made him never taste defeat. With all that being said, can Cormier be the one to finally defeat Jones, or will Jones show everyone why he is the greatest Light Heavyweight MMA fighter of all time?
